After 13 memorable years at the Firestone Sports Complex, we are excited to welcome runners to a brand-new home for the Carbon Valley Half Marathon & SK-Centennial Park in Frederick, Colorado. As we celebrate our 14th year, this move marks an exciting evolution for the race while staying deeply connected to the heritage and character that make the Carbon Valley so special.
This year’s course has been thoughtfully designed to showcase the unique identity of Frederick. Along the route, runners will experience the town’s growing collection of handcrafted wood carvings-distinctive works of art that reflect the creativity and spirit of the community. These pieces add a memorable and meaningful visual element to your race experience.
The Half Marathon course also highlights the region’s historic roots. Portions of the route trace areas connected to the former coal mining operations that helped establish the Carbon Valley. It’s more than just a race-it’s a journey through the history that shaped the community we run in today.
The Half Marathon route also features stretches through the beautiful Milavec Lake Park. With its peaceful water views and natural surroundings, this portion of the course offers a refreshing and scenic experience for runners and spectators alike.
While the location may be new, the heart of the Carbon Valley Half Marathon & 5K remains unchanged. Participants can expect the same welcoming atmosphere, strong community support, and well-organized event that have defined the race for over a decade. We invite you to join us as we begin this exciting new chapter-where local art, rich history, and scenic landscapes come together to create an unforgettable race day experience.
